The European Union since the political crisis, which took place in 2007, caused by new amended lustration legislation supports Albania’s efforts towards stabilisation of democracy. The article performs an analysis of the lustration laws as well as selected activities undertaken by the EU in order to enhance democratic system and rule of law in Albania. It describes also changes made into the judicial system after the fall of Communism.
