This is a presentation of the manner of conservation of the historical coat of mail from the Kornik Library collection, marked as inv. no. MK 2156. The preserved condition of the arms required conservation measures to be taken on the metal elements (paint, the base) as well as on the leather elements. The leather, rivets, some of the scales and the buckles have been reconstructed. The new leather jacket, on which metal elements have been nailed in the original arrangement, has been made of stag leather (the original one was probably made of elk). The manner of conserving iron elements is described, with the use of the method of hydrodynamic leaching of introduced saline impurities through a procedure of a chemical nature. Reagents classified as ,,pure for analysis" and ..pure", as well as destilled water have been used. The faces of the scales were covered with paint based on an epoxy binder, which produced an effect resembling the original version. The reverse side of the scales, the buckles, buttons and rivets were coated with an anticorrosion preparation.
