• In the article, the author challenges the way intercultural competence is shaped by food customs. Many cultural rituals are centered around the preparation and serving of food and drinks. Getting to know all of those habits typical for a specific cultural community can be very useful when someone wants to get know a new language as well as a new culture. As a result, one's intercultural communicative competence will increase. In the theoretical part, the outlined steps should be taken into consideration, in order for the instructor to create a module dedicated to food during Polish language and culture classes for foreigners. The practical part involves showing tasks and exercises by introducing general and specific Polish traditions connected with food.
