Artykuł traktuje o wpływie zróżnicowania etnicznego na preferencje wyborcze społeczeństwa Trynidad i Tobago, a przez to na kształtowanie życia politycznego w kraju. Rozpoczyna go krótkie przedstawienie historii wieloetniczności Trynidadu i Tobago, po którym następuje przytoczenie danych dotyczących przynależności do grup etnicznych i wyznaniowych, pochodzących z wybranych spisów ludności. Na podstawie historii tworzenia partii politycznych, kampanii i wyników wyborów, została dokonana analiza wpływu składu etnicznego partii na ich znaczenie w kraju.

The article discusses the impact of ethnic diversity of Trinidad and Tobago on the electoral preferences of society, and thus on the formation of political life in the country. It begins with a brief presentation of the history of multi-ethnicity of Trinidad and Tobago, followed by the citation of data concerning belonging to ethnic and religious groups, originating from selected censuses. Then, based on the history of the creation of political parties, campaigns and election results, the article analyzes of the influence of the ethnic composition of the party for their importance in the country has been conducted.
