Rodzina jest podstawowym środowiskiem socjalizacji dziecka. Zajmuje też najwyższe miejsce w systemie wartości Polaków. Obraz rodzin w Polsce od wielu lat ulega intensywnym przeobrażeniom. Artykuł stanowi przegląd dostępnych, aktualnych danych nt. zmieniającej się i zróżnicowanej sytuacji rodzin w Polsce, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem rodzin z dziećmi. Analizie poddano takie aspekty jak m.in. struktura i stabilność rodziny, dzietność, podział obowiązków w rodzinie, godzenie pracy zawodowej z życiem rodzinnym. Omówiono też swoiste problemy wybranych typów rodzin, w tym rodzin niepełnych, rozłączonych emigracją, rodzin tworzonych przez pary nieheteroseksualne wychowujące dzieci, rodzin uchodźczych.

The family is the basic environment for socialization of the child. It also ranks the highest among the values that Polish people cherish the most. The image of families in Poland for many years has been undergoing an intense transformation. The article is a review of the available up-to-date data on changing and varied situations of families in Poland, with a special focus on families with children. Analyzed aspects include among others, structure and stability of the family, fertility, the division of responsibilities in the family, reconciling work and family life. Specific problems of selected types of families have also been discussed, including single parent families, families of migrant parents, families created by a pair of non-heterosexual parents, refugee families.
