The article contains an analysis of possible directions of regulations concerning the institution of recalling deputies and senators by referendum postulated in the Polish public debate. The scope of considerations covers the problem of the necessary changes to the Constitution, resulting from the new normative structure, as well as the issue of the reasons for the dismissal of deputies and senators, the entity entitled to initiate the appeal procedure and the legal mechanism and consequences of the referendum. These considerations lead to the conclusion that the introduction of the principle of dismissal of deputies and senators by voters, possible to implement under various legal models, causes profound changes in the constitutional system of the Republic of Poland, and at the same time generates specific political and systemic threats.
