Początki nadzoru korporacyjnego pojawiają się już w starożytności. W obecnych czasach nadzór korporacyjny jest już powszechnym zjawiskiem. Istnieją również różne definicje nadzoru korporacyjnego. Jest to efektem globalizacji, a także długo trwającego kryzysu finansowego. Pojawiły się regulacje prawne oraz nowe zmiany w gospodarce. Problematyka nadzoru korporacyjnego od kilkudziesięciu lat znana jest też w Polsce. W omawianym artykule przedstawione są trzy etapy rozwoju corporate governance. Pierwszego z nich można doszukiwać się w połowie XVIII w., drugiego w latach 1918– 1939, a ostatniego w 1989 r., kiedy wróciła gospodarka wolnorynkowa. Wszystkie te etapy różniły się historią, strukturą organizacyjną, strukturą gospodarczą i regulacjami prawnymi. W artykule przedstawiono również definicję nadzoru korporacyjnego oraz regulacje prawne.

The origins of corporate governance have its beginnings in antiquity. Nowadays, corporate governance is a common phenomenon. There are also different definitions of corporate governance. This is a result of globalization, as well as long‐lasting financial crisis. There were regulations, as well as new developments in the economy. The issue of corporate governance for decades and is known in Poland. In this article there are presented the three stages of the development of corporate governance in Poland. The first of them can be traced to the mid‐eighteenth century, the other in the years 1918–1939, and the last in 1989, when the free market economy returned. All of these steps varied history, organizational structure, economic structure and regulations. The article presents the definition of Corporate Supervision and Legal Regulations.
