This study is based on an intralingual analysis of quantitative and qualitative valences of German nouns, verbs and adjectives belonging to a specific semantic field: feelings. The examples and lexical analysis are taken from the German corpus COSMAS IDS-Mannheim (Language Institute). From a methodological point of view, the work is based on dependency and valency grammar and its main objective focuses on detecting and identifying the common features and the main differences between nouns and their semantic fi eld for verbal and adjectival variants, which will allow us to establish rules for use and combination patterns. This analysis could be of vital importance working on the principle that information based on the comparison between different parts of speech might facilitate the learning of the German language by foreign students.
