Уміння забувати комплементарне здатності пам’ятати. Щось забуте — це не так біла пляма пам’яті, як її конститутивний момент. Забуття — то дисципліна пам’яті, адже пам’ятати все неможливо, а щось пам’ятати й не варто. Пам’ять — то вузька стежка в хащах забуття, чи радше стежки, деякі з них губляться у забутті, а деякі виводять на широкий шлях індивідуальної чи спільної історії.

The paper deals with historical memory and recounts that oblivion is often its constitutive element. Interrelation of the memory and oblivion creates specific topography of the past — the source of origin of our culture and art. Art enthralls us by its striving for perfection. Just this striving is a form of the lack of freedom.
