This article deals with a particularly unknown field of knowledge in our native environment, the genesis of a modern Japanese education system in the second half of the 19th century after the Meiji Restoration was finished. It was a period of transition from a premodern to a modern Japan and it was necessary to create a new system of education with a central management based on foreign examples which could help to achieve this aim by granting modern education accesible for japanese people as a whole.
