The District Audit Office in Kielce (Okręgowa Izba Kontroli w Kielcach) was the first regional branch of the Supreme Office of State Audit in the independent Poland. The author of the article, on the basis of the documents stored in the State Archives in the city of Kielce, attempts to reconstruct the process of the organisation of the office, and presents the profiles of some of its staff members who contributed to its development.
