The author analyzes the poetry of Taras Shevchenko in the context of the romantic concept of truth. He researches these poems where the poet shows its essence in the most precise way. Taras Shevchenko is presented as a whistle-blower of native pharisees and false patriots as well as the creator of the Ukrainian historiosophical thoughts. In the scientist’s opinion, the poet became the most ardent enemy of despotic monarchs and political tyrants who violated both human and God’s rights. The article presents the role Taras Shevchenko played among the Ukrainian patriotic and democratic youth, especially in the context of creating the collective imagination. In conclusion, the author states that Shevchenko’s concept of truth is consistent with God’s concept of truth, which the whole writer’s poetry is based on.
