The area of vegetable cultivation is increasing in Polish organic farms in recent years. Their production gain in importance due to the growing demand for such products. The economical results presented by the group of organic farms in the 2-year period show that the cultivation of certified vegetables contributes to their competitiveness in the market. In the analysed farms the average vegetable area was about 8 ha (about 30% of utilised agricultural area). Nearly 70% of the total farm production value was obtained from this area. In both years production was profitable and effective. The production cost of the production of 1 000 PLN was on average slightly over 600 PLN. With such cost-to-production relation, the average farm income (FFI) in 2014-2015 is around 123-129 000 PLN, of which only about 34-36% is the share of direct subsidies. The obtained economic surplus allowed to meet the family’s consumption needs, but also to reproduce the expanded farm assets. Placement of vegetables on the market, obtaining high prices, high incomes and investments made are indicative of the competitiveness of farms and their development.
