The basic issue presented in the article is a question of a relation between economic, employment and educational structure as immensely relevant social factors that profoundly affect developmental processes. The interplay between mentioned factors is examined at a micro level based on the example of Krapina Zagorje County in Croatia. Based on available statistical data, we analyse the denoted types of structure in the County in order to unfold how their interference leverages its developmental trajectory. After delineating certain developmental problems of the County, in the concluding section we emphasise the gravity of systemic approach in designing and implementing the complex process of development.
