The article focuses on the provisions of the EU Global Strategy for Foreign and Security Policy in an attempt to demonstrate changes in EU strategic thinking since the adoption of the European Security Strategy in 2003. Opinions on the first strategic document, including critical ones, are presented along with recommendations for the future. The nature of the EU Global Strategy is then outlined as well as the interests and principles of the Union’s external relations. The final part concentrates on the five priorities of EU foreign and security policy and on measures for fulfilling those ambitious objectives.
