The article presents the academic achievements and popularization efforts associated with the 100th anniversary of the January Uprising (1863-1864) which was celebrated during Poland's Millennium of Christianity (1960-1966). The author focu- ses on social and economic issues during the Uprising which were emphasized in the course of preparations for and during Millennium celebrations. The memory of the January Uprising was also actively preserved through school education. An analysis of school curricula of the 1960s revealed that they were compatible with changes in historiography at that time.
