Rescue excavations at multicultural Site I in the locality of Izdebno Kościelne, the Grodzisk Mazowiecki Commune, were carried out in 1976-1978 and 2008¬2009. They were related to the planned course of the Masovian part of the A2 motorway. In the course of excavations an area of 681 ares was exposed, being almost a half of the surface of the entire site. 5932 features, more than 36500 fragments of pottery, bones and cob, as well as numerous flint, stone and metal artefacts were discovered. Eight settlement phases were identified. These were related to the presence of populations of the Świder Culture, the Funnel Beaker Culture, cultures of the Trzciniec Circle, the Lusatian Culture, the Jastorf Culture, the Przeworsk Culture from the Late Pre- Roman Period, the Late Roman Period and the Early Migration Period, as well as populations of the late Middle Ages and the Modern Period in this territory.
