Artykuł opisuje podejście procesowe w organizacjach (Business Process Orientation – BPO) oraz systemy informatyczne wspomagające jego realizację. Na wstępie scharakteryzowano procesy biznesowe oraz koncepcję zarządzania procesami biznesowymi (Business Process Management – BPM). Następnie zaprezentowano systemy informatyczne wspomagające główne procesy w organizacji oraz poszczególne etapy cyklu życia zarządzania procesami biznesowymi (BPM Lifecycle). Wskazano również na istotną rolę systemów zarządzania procesami biznesowymi (Business Process Management Systems – systemy BPM). Badania zostały przeprowadzone na podstawie analizy literatury, doświadczeń empirycznych, a także onstruktywnego myślenia i indukcyjnych metod wnioskowania

The article deals with the Business Process Orientation (BPO) and information systems supporting this approach. At the beginning the Business Process (BP) concept and Business Process anagement (BPM) approach are introduced. Next, the article describes main processes in organizations and information systems, which support them. Then, the BPM lifecycle is presented and information systems maintaining their steps. The important role of Business Process Management Systems (BPMS), the system designed for managing business processes, is also indicated here. This study is based on an analysis of literature, empirical experience, as well as the critical thinking and inductive inference methods.
