W artykule przedstawiono genezę, rozwiązania prawne i praktykę stosowania instytucji recall election w systemie prawa amerykańskiego. Wskazane zostały także podniesione w orzecznictwie sądów USA kwestie związane z konstytucyjnością odwoływania osób pełniących funkcje publiczne z wyboru, takie jak trwałość man-datu, zasada reprezentacji i republikańskiej formy rządów.

The article depicts recall election in US legal orders and practice. It also regards some fundamental questions concerning constitutionality of recall – like a right of public officer to remain the seat full period of the term, representativeness and republican form of government.
