Artykuł analizuje ważną dla międzynarodowego dyskursu naukowego poliheurystyczną teorię podejmowania decyzji (poliheuristic theory of decision-making, PTDM). Teoria ta przyczyniła się do opracowania tzw. stosowanej analizy decyzyjnej (applied decision analysis) oraz wzmocniła próby popularyzacji podejścia behawioralnego w analizie polityki bezpieczeństwa. Główną hipotezą tekstu jest twierdzenie, że podejście PTDM może pogłębić studia nad kruchymi strukturami politycznymi w Europie Środkowej. Celem autora jest identyfikacja obszarów zastosowania wspomnianych ujęć w badaniach nad bezpieczeństwem narodowym rozwijanych w Europie Środkowej. Artykuł wykorzystuje pogłębioną analizę teoretyczną, przedstawia genezę teorii PTDM, analizuje rozwój jej koncepcji, rekonstruuje główne założenia, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem studiów nad podejmowaniem decyzji w dziedzinie bezpieczeństwa narodowego. Artykuł jest elementem szerszych badań nad konstruktywistycznym pojmowaniem bezpieczeństwa w Europie Środkowej.

This article explores developments of poliheuristic theory of decision-making (PTDM), which has become an intellectual background for applied decision analysis and has supported new behavioral approach in security policy analysis. The main hypothesis of this paper is the statement that PTDM approach may deepen constructivist analyses on fragile political structures in Central Europe. The basic aim of author is to identify the research field of mentioned concepts in the context of security policy research. Theoretical analysis tools are used in order to examine the philosophical and scientific inspirations, to reconstruct fundamental premises of PTDM, with the special concern on portraying national security decision-making. Article is a part of larger study on the perspective of constructivist developments in security studies in Central Europe.
