Artykuł ma na celu przybliżenie czytelnikom tematyki związanej z informatyką śledczą. Został podzielony na dwie części – prawną i informatyczną. W pierwszej omówiono związane z tematem definicje: b i e g ł e g o , s p e c j a l i s t y i b i e g ł ego i n s t y t u c j o n a l n e g o . Przedstawiono także kryteria, tryby i formy powoływania biegłego oraz prawne aspekty zasięgania jego opini, które zapisano w Kodeksie postępowania karnego. Następnie omówiono zasady prawidłowego formułowania celu badań oraz najczęstsze błędy przy stawianiu pytań biegłym. Są to elementy wpływające na wartość dowodową jego opinii. W części informatycznej określono pojęcie d owod u c y f rowego i wyjaśniono naczelne zasady informatyki śledczej wynikające ze specyfiki przedmiotu badań, czyli informacji cyfrowych. Nakreślono także praktyczne możliwości tego typu informatyki oraz szczegółowo omówiono zabezpieczanie informacji cyfrowych, w tym rodzaje nośników informacji oraz planowanie i sposób postępowania z informacjami podczas realizacji procesowych. Na końcu umieszczono minisłownik pojęć związanych z tematem artykułu.

The article divided into two parts – legal and informatics – is aimed at familiarizing the readers with the subject-matter related to investigative informatics. Starting from the presentation of definitions of an expert, specialist, institutional expert, criteria, procedure and form of calling of an expert, authors demonstrates certain legal aspects of consulting an expert contained in the Code of Penal Procedure. Further, the principles of appropriate formulation of the research aim and the most frequent errors in posing questions to experts – in other words, elements influencing the evidence value of an expert opinion, were discussed. The informatics part contains the definition of digital evidence and an outline of chief principles of investigative informatics deals with. The range of practical applications of investigative informatics was outlined. The security measures for digital information, including types of information carriers, planning, and proceeding with the information during realization of actions within legal proceedings were discussed in detail. A glossary of notions related to investigative informatics was placed at the end.
