The purpose of this article is to analyse PRINCE 2 project management methodology I research and development projects. According to guidelines of the National Centre for Research and Development, projects carried out in this area ought to be managed in accordance with one of the adopted and binding project management methodologies. Among legal documents one can find indications concerning project management in accordance with PRINCE2 or Project Management Body of Knowledge methodology. Due to the author’s interest in PRINCE2 methodology, her considerations focus solely on this methodology – its fundamentals, strengths and weaknesses, as well as possibilities to employ it in research and development projects in the area of defence and security of the state.
