For the purpose of comprehensive studies of the European integration of the Republic of Croatia the article analyzes evolution of public opinion in Croatia on the EU-membership prospects. Support of the European future by the Croatian population was one of the main factors, which, along with the foreign policy and socio-economic measures, influenced the course of the entire EU-approaching process. Special attention is given to the specific internal and foreign policy developments in the Republic of Croatia, which directly influenced the formation and fluctuations of the public opinion on the EU. More precise focus is placed on the problematic issues that not only hindered Croatian progress on the way to the EU-membership, but also caused a negative response in the country and badly affected the level of the EU support among the substantial part of the Croatian population.
