In modern theology once again there is a lively interest in a category of beauty. Today it is often said that theology should follow the “way of beauty”. The strength of beauty stems from the fact that it has a very special character and that it is connected with a remarkable cogency. Undoubtedly, theology taking an aesthetic point of view is much more definite and influential. Among the introductory questions that should be answered while discussing this kind of theology I would suggest taking a closer look at the changes that occurred down the centuries in the understanding of a relation between creative activity and religious experience. The aim of this “parable” is to present the spiritual situation in which we are now. Thanks to that in a further part of today’s reflection we will be able to formulate certain criteria which will serve as a basis for effective search for the way of beauty in theology, so that it could be the answer to real sensitivity of contemporary man who is caught in a particular spiritual condition. It can be argued that finally it is all about the spirituality of man in which the need for beauty and art is manifested with all its obviousness.
