This article derives from the author’s study of Polish attitudes to education coupled with the facilities provided to support education in Poland. The author points out that despite the statements proclaiming the high esteem in which education is held, not everyone has equal access to it. This inequality comes from the diversity of economic, social and cultural situations faced by young people. Insufficient economic resources and the lack of adjustment of the aid provided, deepens the inequalities that are then reproduced in subsequent generations. The author discusses the possibilities of levelling these inequalities through various scholarship programmes and stresses the difficulties which are specific for Poland in this respect.
