At the 83rd session of the Lower House of the Polish Parliament – the Sejm – President of NIK Krzysztof Kwiatkowski presented the Report on the Activity of the Supreme Audit Office in 2018. During this period, NIK conducted 2,325 audits – 129 more than in the previous year – comprising 1,843 entities. Important areas for the citizens’ life quality and the state’s operations were audited during 111 planned audits, including state budget execution audit, which – regarded as one exercise – actually consisted of 285 audits conducted at 267 auditees. NIK also carried out 91 ad hoc audits in response to emerging information on important irregularities. In 2018, NIK also conducted seven audits together with Supreme Audit Institutions of other countries, preparing international reports.
