The concepts of open innovation and prosumption have been known for many years before the beginning of Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 era. Nowadays the Web technology evolution provides a fertile ground for cooperation and knowledge transfer between heterogeneous groups of consumers, producers and scientists from all over the world. The today platforms of open innovation gather hundreds of thousands of users. Therefore understanding and managing the breadth, depth and complexity of information resources they create becomes a challenge. The paper introduces the possibilities of exploiting the semantic technology in the portals of open innovations to better manage the large amount of content and the users interactions. The semantic solutions support the information retrieval functions, finding the potentially best problem solvers among community users and targeting the information transfer according to user’s preferences and activities.
