Liczba π towarzyszyła człowiekowi od zawsze – przecież koło było jego jednym z największych wynalazków. Każdego roku, 14 marca świat naukowy obchodzi jej imieniny. Z tej okazji przypomnieliśmy podstawowe fakty dotyczące geometrycznego pochodzenia π oraz historię najważniejszych odkryć w matematyce pozwalających lepiej zrozumieć jej znaczenie w nauce.

The number π has accompanied man since ecer – we must remember that the wheel was one of the biggest invention. Each year, 14th of March scientific world celebrates the name-day of the number π. On that occasion, we have remained the basic facts about geometric origin of the number π and the history of the most important discoveries in mathematics that can help to understand the meaning of the number π in science.
