Zastosowanie modelu pielęgniarstwa Dorothei Orem daje możliwość zwrócenia uwagi na problemy zdrowotne, psychiczne, fizyczne i psychospołeczne pacjentki z nowotworem złośliwym sutka. Na podstawie wybranej literatury przedstawiono czynniki zwiększające ryzyko występowania raka piersi i opisano jego objawy. Uwagę zwrócono na możliwości diagnostyczne oraz metody leczenia. Podkreślono decydującą rolę zastosowania modelu pielęgniarstwa Dorothei Orem w opiece nad pacjentką , w szczególności na zastosowanie teorii samoopieki i deficytu samoopieki w systemie kompensacyjnym i wpierająco-uczącym. Przedstawiono potrzebę stosowania rehabilitacji psychicznej, psychospołecznej i fizycznej. Zwrócono uwagę na ważny element leczenia pacjentki z nowotworem złośliwym sutka, jakim jest wsparcie i współpraca z rodziną oraz promocja i edukacja zdrowotna.

Application of Dorothea Orem model of nursing makes it possible to draw attention to health, mental, physical and psychosocial problems of the patient with malignant nipple tumour. Based on the selected literature, factors that increase the risk of breast cancer were presented, and its symptoms were described. The key role of the application of Dorothea Orem model of nursing in care for the patient was stressed, in particular the application of the theory of self-care, and selfcare deficits in the compensation system and educative/supportive system. The need for mental, psychosocial and physical rehabilitation was presented. Attention was drawn to the important part of the treatment of the patient with malignant nipple tumour, which is the support and cooperation of family, health promotion and health education.
