Alcohol addiction leads to the situation when the people creating a family become subjects of a faulty micro community. A family is a micro community of a society. It is important to give adequate help to the family so that it will not lead to the continuation of generational dysfunction. The help granted to people who are addicted to alcohol can be divided into two stages. The first one happens outside a courtroom and takes place before a communal commission for solving alcohol-related problems. The second stage usually occurs when the person who is addicted to alcohol does not agree to enter the treatment voluntarily in the proceedings before a communal commission for solving alcohol-related problems. The restitution of family values and re-creation of matrimonial and parental bonds in a healing process to a great extend depends on the source of alcohol problems and the family developmental phases, i.e. early, middle or final ones. An early phase is conducive to the best results, because this is the time when the family starts, looks into the future and has hopes related to the treatment. In remaining developmental stages those perspectives should be encouraged if we want the treatment to result in healing.
