This article is targeted on the problems of small and mid-size businesses, which can be identified as an important stability factor of the Czech and European economy. Its importance is described from the economic, innovation and employee policy point of view, possible financial supports for development from national and European funds are specified. Operations programs, which are pivotal for supporting business, are analyzed. Comparison of business supporting programs is done for the South Bohemian locality and others localities in the Czech Republic.
