Regular theological institutes in the Czech Lands in the first half of the twentieth century were private institutes of an academic nature. There is not much known about their inner activities and the structure of studies. The aim of this contribution is to reconstruct the reality of the education and acquaint readers with the organization of studies at the concrete regular educational establishment of the Redemptorist fathers in Obořiště near Příbram, from the establishment of the institute in 1902 up until its abolition in 1950. On the basis of studies of archive sources, there would seem to have been an excellent ability on the part of Czech Redemptorists to react flexibly to the requirements of legal prescriptions of the Church and of the state, especially during the 1930s. This theological institute reached a high level of expertise and also a high quality in terms of the regular formation of students. The end of the 1940s denoted another progressive development in the studies which ended, however, with the intervention of the Communist totalitarian powers.
