Artykuł jest wprowadzeniem w teoretyczne korzenie podejścia procesualnego w pracy z dzieckiem i rodziną, podkreślającego indywidualność każdego systemu rodzinnego i konieczność odrzucenia podejścia klasyfikacyjno-typologicznego. Przedstawia on koncepcje dwóch kluczowych nurtów teoretycznych: konstruktywizmu i teorii socjoekologicznej.

This is an introduction to the theoretical origination of processual approach in working with family, which emphasises individuality of every single family system as well as a need of rejection classificatory–typological point of view. This publication presents concepts of two main theories: constructivism and ecological system, which refers to Hilarion Petzold’s quote: “There is no one reality, one well taken right way of work. The only important thing is trying to understand multifaceted reality from distinct points of view”. (2004, str. 132). The pedagogue’s work referring to constructivism and ecological system means subjective approach to the client and also emphasises its individuality. Person looking for a help is the one with all needful resources requiring change, and at the same time - a person who has an impact on his life and reality. Both, constructive and ecological approach, obliges experts to leave thinking about help as a deficit, convention, rules look-out and values; it entices them to work with client focused on respect. It amplifies and also identifies resources, taking responsibility for the changes and emphasising taking decisions.
