W artykule przedstawiono próbę analizy efektywności ochrony zdrowia (OZ) w wybranych krajach UE i OECD z uwzględnieniem czynnika innowacyjności. Podstawowym źródłem danych prezentowanych w artykule są ogólnodostępne informacje z baz danych krajów lub organizacji międzynarodowych: WHO, OECD, UE, INSEE1. Dane przedstawione w tabelach i na rysunkach prezentują struktury, współzależności oraz dynamikę zmiennych. Zaprezentowano główne problemy cywilizacyjne świata związane bezpośrednio lub pośrednio z obszarem ochrony zdrowia. Przeanalizowano wydatki na OZ, ich dynamikę na tle dynamiki PKB poszczególnych krajów. Do analizy efektów wykorzystano oczekiwaną długość życia. Oczekiwana długość życia w głównej mierze zależy od wydatków na OZ. Wydatki na badania i rozwój w dziedzinie OZ w niewielkim stopniu objaśniają oczekiwaną długość życia. Mieszkańcy krajów nadrabiających zaległości w innowacjach żyją krócej niż mieszkańcy krajów o wyższym poziomie zaangażowania w innowacje.

The paper presents an analysis of effectiveness of health care in the selected OECD and EU countries with the innovation factor taken into account. The primary source of data presented in this article is publicly available data from databases of different countries or international organizations: WHO, EU, OECD, INSEE. The data presented in tables and figures show: the structures, dynamics and interdependence of variables. The paper presents the main civilisation problems of the world, directly or indirectly related to health care. Health care expenditures and their dynamics are analysed and compared to the dynamics of the GDP growth. The life expectancy has been used to analyse the effects. Life expectancy depends mainly on the expenditures on health care. Expenditures on R&D in health care explain life expectancy only to a small extent. Residents of countries catching up in terms of innovation live shorter than these of countries with a higher level of commitment to innovation.
