Розвиток історії філософії України як галузі дослідження у радянський період невіддільний від діяльності відділу історії філософії України Інституту філософії ім. Г.С. Сковороди НАН України, а у 1972 р. — історії філософської та соціологічної думки на Україні Інституту філософії АН УРСР далі — Відділ). Попередні дослідження свідчать, що найбільша за радянський період кількість публікацій у цій галузі припадає на 1972 р. Такої кількості публікацій з історії філософії України наступного разу вдалося досягнути лише у 1992 р. Проте після 1972 р. видавнича активність радянських істориків філософії України різко знижується. Метою даного дослідження є з’ясувати причини такого спалаху і спаду. Для цього на основі фонду архіву Інституту філософії ім. Г.С. Сковороди НАН України та спогадів одного із тодішніх співробітників, а пізніше завідувача Відділу (1997—2009 рр.), представника дисидентського руху, Василя Семеновича Лісового (1937—2012) здійснено реконструкцію наукової діяльності відділу у 1972 році в ідеологічному та адміністративному контексті доби.

The article is devoted to research in the history of philosophy which was carried out by the Department of the History of Philosophy of Ukraine at the Institute of Philosophy at the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR in 1972. That year one could observe an increase in publication activities of the department, which was followed by a sharp fall. Basing on the archival documents the author tries to find the reasons for such growth and fall. It is found that the Thaw enabled an intensive rise in researches and research subjects. At the same time, the fall was caused by the change of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine, the reduction of partial Ukrainization, a persecution and arrests among research staff of the Department and the Institute.
