The author considers the state of the art in the contemporary research in the field of semantic syntax, in particu-lar it focuses on Stanislaw Karolak’s theoretical model. The article discusses some perspectives of its application in modern linguistics : in the field of lexicography, functional semantics, contrastive linguistics and others. Some new applications of Karolak’s theoretical model are also suggested, in fields such as aspects of diathesis theory, polysemy (semantic derivation), stylistics, language units frequency, grammatical nomination, due to the syn-thetic or analytic status of predicate exposition, the relation between semantics and syntax, due to the fact that valency of the verb is conditioned by the semantic (thematic) class the verb belongs to.
