Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie efektów konwergencji realnej w strefie euro w latach 1999-2017 oraz roli jej czynników. Konwergencja ta została zdefiniowana jako proces wyrównywania się poziomów PKB per capita. Czynnikami uwzględnionymi w badaniach są: wydajność czynników produkcji, inwestycje, jakość instytucji, jakość rządzenia, kapitał ludzki, innowacyjność gospodarki, regulacje rynków produktów oraz stopień rozwoju rynków kapitałowych. W badaniach zastosowano analizę regresji. Konkluzje są następujące: a) różnice w poziomach PKB per capita znacznie zmniejszyły się w strefie euro; b) istnieje wyraźny związek między poziomem PKB per capita a czynnikami konwergencji realnej; c) najważniejszym czynnikiem konwergencji realnej jest innowacyjność gospodarki; d) rola pozostałych czynników jest mniejsza, ale ważna; e) wyniki badań należy ostrożnie interpretować ze względu na niewielką liczbę obserwacji i niedoskonałość wskaźników.

The aim of this paper is to present effects of the real convergence in the euro area in the period 1999-2017, and the role of its factors. This convergence has been defined as a process of equation of the GDP per capita levels. Factors taken into consideration in the study are: productivity of a production factors, investment, quality of the institutions, governance quality, innovativeness of the economy, product market regulations, and degree of capital markets development. A regression analysis has been used in the research. Conclusions are as follows: a) differences in the GDP per capita levels decreased significantly in the euro area; b) there is a clear relation between the level of GDP per capita and real convergence factors; c) innovativeness of the economy is the most important factor of real convergence; d) the role of the other factors is lower, but important; e) results of the analysis should be interpreted with caution because of little number of observations and imperfection of indicators.
