Site 3 in Petrykozy is located in the central course of the River Sierpienica, at its right side. In August 2009 and 2010 rescue excavation works were carried out there. Funding was provided by the Masovian voivodeship office of Monument Protection (the Regional office in Płock) and the Institute of Archaeology of the University of Warsaw. The examinations were directed by the author and students of the IA UW participated in them. Exploration encompassed the area of 682 m2, where 9 trenches were laid out (VII-XV). Graves of the Lusatian and the Przeworsk Cultures were exposed at the site. The following features are to be related to the Lusatian Culture: four cremation graves with remains of funeral pyres (Nos. 75, 34, 101, 185); next two pit graves, but with stone constructions (Nos. 199 and 200); an urn grave, covered with remains of the funeral pyre (No. 111); and a symbolic grave with stone construction (No. 45). Based on the finds, these graves can be dated to the time from the late IIIrd to the IVth period of the Bronze Age. Five partially destroyed graves can be related to the Przeworsk Culture: three pit ones (Nos. 122,131 and 197) and two urn ones (Nos. 106 and 145). These can be dated to the middle and the late phase of the Late Pre-Roman Period. Furthermore, 95 other ancient pits were recorded in the course of examinations. These may perhaps be re- lated to the afore-mentioned groups. All the features were already notable in the bottom part of present-day topsoil or at the level of the top of undisturbed subsoil; they survived in vestigial form only. Research results are a valuable complement to a sparse source base for the history of settlement of this territory. It is poorly examined from the archaeological point of view. Examinations in this territory were led to a limited extend only and these were usually rescue examinations.
