The article presents the construction and growth of the Warsaw-Vienna Iron Railway up to the end of 1862. It reveals the birth of the concept of how the railway should be built, its route and the construction of the elements of its technical structure and its rolling stock. The author precisely presents the process of building the line of railway electromagnetic telegraphs in 1852 and the installation of the line of the state telegraph in 1856 based on the already used poles along the railway. Additionally, the author explains how the telegraphs of that time functioned: the “American” Morse one and the synchronic indicative one of ABC type, both of them produced by Siemens & Halske from Berlin.
