The article deals with Vikian aspects in Warburgian tradition of image knowledge. It presents the analogy between Vico’s prototheory of language and Aby Warburg’s conception of image in the context of triad memoria — fantasia — ingegno, with particular emphasis on the mythopoietic character of image. It shows contemporary iconological contexts and the premises which may lead to using Warburg’s conception and Gottfried Boehm’s conception of iconic epistems in depicting the idea of image active in culture and in the research into culture imaginarium and mythopoiesis of image.
