Głównym celem opracowania jest przedstawienie grupy G20 – jednej z najważniejszych międzynarodowych instytucji finansowych, w kontekście trzech nowo utworzonych słów: megagrupa, megaszczyty, megafinanse. Zabieg ten ma podkreślić rangę tego gremium. W pierwszej części artykułu G20 zaprezentowano jako megagrupę. Źródeł jej dominacji upatruje się w historii powstania grupy, zasięgu geograficznym oraz potencjale wzrostowym gospodarek krajów członkowskich. Druga część poświęcona została głównym celom działania grupy G20 oraz tematom podejmowanym i dyskutowanym na szczytach. Analiza pozwala na stwierdzenie, że G20 pełni istotną rolę w rozwiązywaniu globalnych problemów, jak na przykład konsekwencje globalnego kryzysu. Stąd, w ostatniej części artykułu przedstawiono działania podjęte w obszarze megafinansów. Kryzys finansowy z 2007 roku ujawnił istniejące braki w zakresie zarządzania ryzykiem i nadzoru nad globalnym rynkiem finansowym. Grupa G20 wzięła odpowiedzialność za przygotowanie oraz wdrożenie rekomendowanych reform.

The main goal of this article is to present the G20 group – one of the most important international financial institutions - in the context of three newly created words: megagroup, megasummits, megafinance. In that way, the significance of the G20 can be underlined. Firstly, the G20 is presented as a megagroup. Sources of its dominance are seen in its history, the geographical extent and the growth of potential of the member states’ economies. The second part of the paper concentrate on main objectives and the most important statements of work programmes discussed on the G20 summits. The analysis shows that G20 plays essential role in solving global problems, for example consequences of global financial crisis. Thus, in the final part, the Author presents and comments types of the decisions concerning megafinanse. The financial crisis from 2007 revealed deficiencies in risk management and supervision in the global financial market. The group G20 took responsibility for the preparation and implementation of recommended reforms.
