The house under discussion, dating probably as far back as to the 16th century, is situated at the Old Town Market and has many times been subjected to reconstructions. Now, in v iew o f its poor technical condition, it required general restoration. However, owing to a need to replace the obsolete floors it has proved indispensable to make an additional load-bearing construction able to take over the load of the said floors. From the accompanying sketches may be se en the situation of this newly provided constructional system. It is a construction consisting o f ste e l beams embedded with concrete into foundations and reaching as high as to the w a ll coping level. This ty pe of solution can be applied where the weakened load-bearing walls are not strong enough to bear the new, heavy-weight floors.
