This article is based on a study on the master's study programmes in the Department of Economics in the Latvian University of Agriculture (DE of the LUA). The aim of this study was to determine the correlation between the offered study programmes with the interests of master's students and requirements related to the study process. The anonymous survey method was used in the study in order to obtain credible and complete information on the opinions of the students who graduated from the master's study programmes in 2006. The study covered the interests of the graduates -former applicants - which determined their choice of programmes; problems of graduates upon entering the labour market; and opinions of graduates on possible ways to improve the study process and programmes. The article contains novel study results based on new and unique data. Among other novelties, the article contains new and original conclusions on how the economic and academic interests of master's students affect their choice of specific subprogrammes or subjects.
