Jerzy Toeplitz can be found among one of the creators of Polish post-war cinematography. He was rector of Film School in Łódź, the leader of FIAF, "Kino" magazine journalist, and he was also a very influential person. UB (Security Service Office) the beginning was highly interested in his person. It was well known that privately he was not in favour of communism, still he was admired for his competence and international career. Only in the sixties SB (Security Service) started to collect documents discrediting the professor, which also were to indicate his Jewish origins. In 1968 Toeplitz supported students' postulates and as a result he lost some part of his position. Despite that fact he wasn't forced to leave and continued his job. Toeplitz's career is an example of a pragmatic attitude towards socialist reality.
