The subject of the article is emotivity examined as a sociopragmatic convention. The analysis was carried out after differentiating between the so-called emotive and emotional communication. The former type of communication is understood as an interactional strategic action connected with activating particular communicative mechanisms based on the pragmatic rules of solidarity, closeness and affiliation, whose scope and meaning for interpersonal relations may differ in particular speech communities. The latter of the two communicative types mentioned above is in turn connected with the exteriorization of affective states which bear no signs of interactional strategic action. The work suggests that emotivity be discussed in terms of a certain routine attribute interaction, and not only as an emotional charge of an utterance.
