Stanowiło to 42,1% ogółu zbadanych gospodarstw domowych w Polsce. The article presents the results of surveys concerning the impact of the modified OECD equivalence scale on the level and diversity of food consumption in rural areas. For this purpose, the average monthly consumption of basic food products in rural households by socio-economic groups per capita and per equivalent unit using the modified equivalence scale (S50/30) were compared. The results of the study indicate significant differences both in the level of food consumption, as well as in relations between the surveyed groups of the population, depending on the method of research. The most significant changes relate to households of pensioners and farmers. After applying conversion per unit equivalent, in households of pensioners a reduction was demonstrated in consumption of most food products in relation to average in rural areas and growth, especially of products derived from natural consumption in households of farmers.
