The article deals with an intellectual interplay between Clement Greenberg and Pierre Restany, two influential art critics of the 20th century, taking place during the early 1960s. Besides vis-a-vis dialogues, such as those during the Torcuato di Tella Prize Award in Buenos Aires (1964), they also met via publishing their articles in the journals Domus and Preuves. They discussed actual problems of contemporary art, including the future of post-pictorial abstraction. C. Greenberg advocating American input and hegemony (abstract expressionism), P. Restany being sensitive to the plurality of artistic centres around the globe.
