This article, from the perspective of metaphysics, analyzes Baroque influences on the style of Vladimir Holan (1905-1980) in the collections of his verse from the 1930s and 1940s. The influences appear in Holan's work, it argues, because of a wave of renewed interest in the Baroque in the 1930s and also the resonance those influences had with Holan's sensibility.
