The folowing article deals with one of the methods of teaching through problems present in Polish teaching tradition for years though recently criticized. My analytical approach aims at its defencc as the method developing independent thinking an pupil’s inquisition, the way of acquiring and systematizing knowledge and preparing for working by means of more complicated methods (learning through problem soking and creative methods). Heureza also occurs as the constant element of pupils work during the lessons carried out with the use of other methods, for example: drama or intersemiotic translation.
