W pierwszej części artykułu przedstawiono rozwój sieci osadniczej wschodniego pasma aglomeracji łódzkiej jak o układu linii, posługując się metodą grafów. W dalszej części omówiono przemiany funkcjonalno-przestrzenne wybranych siedlisk wsi pod wpływem procesu urbanizacji. Wykazano zależność między zmianą funkcji siedliska, z rolniczej na pozarolniczą, a malejącą intensywnością zabudowy działek. Prawidłowość ta upoważniła autora do budowy modelu przekształceń funkcjonalno-przestrzennych siedlisk wsi w tej części aglomeracji łódzkiej. W końcowej części opracowania dokonano typologii wybranych wsi z punktu widzenia zaawansowania procesu urbanizacji.

In the opening section of this paper the development of settlement system of eastern zone of Łódź agglomeration is demonstrated as a configuration of lines using the graphs method. Further section of the study examines functional and spatial changes in selected rural settlements caused by urbanization processes. Analysis is based on changes in some forms of land use. It was found that the shift from agricultural to non-agricultural function of rural settlements is correlated with decreasing building density within plots. This regularity gave a basis for a model of spatio-functional transformation of rural settlements in this sector of Łódź agglomeration. In the final section of the paper a selection of villages have been classified with regard to the advancement of the urbanization process. It was concluded that all villages represent polyfunctional structures. Agriculture turned out to be a vanishing function, particularly in the area around Koluszki. The advancement of the transformation process largely depends on situation of rural settlements in relation to road and railway system.
